Shakeeb Julien

Shakeeb Julien is a fourth-year Monte Ahuja College of Business student studying Operations and Supply Chain Management. He is pursuing a minor in International Business. Shakeeb has demonstrated academic excellence, earning the Chia Fan Foundation Scholarship. He says the scholarship has allowed him to continue his studies without the “extra financial stress” that the unprecedented pandemic times have brought on. The scholarship has also allowed him to “dedicate much-needed time to focusing on doing the best that I can in class.” In the future, Shakeeb hopes to be in the same position as his “gratuitous donors” and be able to offer scholarship opportunities to others.

Shakeeb held two internships while studying at Cleveland State. In 2019 he interned at the Cleveland Indians Distribution Center in Progressive Field. While working for the sports organization, Shakeeb learned about warehousing and smaller-scale distribution. He says he also learned a lot of team building and project skills. He also interned at Werner G. Smith where he held many responsibilities, including organizing paperwork for international orders, pursuing new international business leads, and process improvement. Shakeeb worked on several projects throughout different departments at the company.

Both of his internships were obtained through resources provided by the Monte Ahuja College of Business. Shakeeb says he learned about the Cleveland Indians internship when representatives from the organization visited one of his business classes. He got his internship at Werner through the Ohio Export Internship Program which matches companies with highly motivated college students who have taken export-focused coursework.
