Carley Barnett is the Rotary Club of Cleveland's Excellence in Marketing honoree for 2023. Carley will graduate this spring with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, accompanied by a Minor in Professional Selling and a Digital Marketing Certificate. She is a diligent student with a 4.0 GPA. Carley was born in Mayfield, Ohio, but was raised in the small town of Bristolville in Trumbull County. She graduated from Bristol High School in 2019, with a graduating class of only 36 students. She credits her friends, family and Mitchell’s Ice Cream for getting her through her college career.

Carley is heavily involved in campus activities. For example, as a member of Cleveland State's chapter of the American Marketing Association, she was part of the team that placed as a semi-finalist in the 2021-2022 AMA Case Competition for the client, Amazon Prime Student. Also, she served four years on the CSU Campus Activities Board, including as president for 2022-23. As an event planner on the board, she independently planned 18 events, ranging from small-scale to as large as 1,500 attendees. She won awards for “Event of the Year” in 2021 and 2022.

Off-campus, Carley has held two marketing internship positions. In 2021, she interned with the creative agency Auden & Company. As the Social Media Marketing Intern, she was involved in content creation, branded photoshoots, and the internal rebranding of Auden & Company. In 2022, Carley interned with iDesign’s product management team. iDesign offers innovative home storage solutions and works with major brands including Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club and The Container Store. Carley is grateful for the mentors she has worked with throughout these roles and is eager to start her full-time career.
