On Thursday, April 30th 2020, the Rotary Club of Cleveland presented Layne Scheufler with the Awards of Excellence in Graduate Business Studies. Layne grew up in Orrville, Ohio and graduated in 2014.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Akron in 2017 with a double major in Corporate Financial Management and Financial Planning. At Akron, he was involved in several student organizations including the Financial Management Association, the Finanical Planning Association and the Club Golf team. During his undergraduate program he interned at Sherwin-Williams, Apple Growth Partners and Valmark Financial Group.

Layne began his career as a Pricing Analyst at Progressive Insurance. Since joining the company, he has held three roles in different parts of the organization, most recently as a Data Analyst in the Personal Lines Control group.

While completing the MBA program at CSU, Layne continued to work full-time. Upon graduation, he plans to continue working within data analytics at Progressive. He finds this work to be both challenging and rewarding and he would like to eventually take on a management role.

In his free time, Layne enjoys golfing, attending concerts, traveling and cheering on local Cleveland sports teams. His personal goal is to play a round of golf in every state.
