José C. Feliciano August 2022 Update:

Mr. José C. Feliciano Sr. Appointed to Board Chaired by Justice Stephen Breyer, Former Justice of the United States Supreme Court

José C. Feliciano Sr., chairman and founder of the Hispanic Roundtable and former White House Fellow, was appointed to the board of the American Bar Association (ABA) Rule of Law Initiative (ROLI).

Established in 1990, today the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) implements legal reform programs in 50 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East and North Africa. ABA ROLI will be chaired by a recently retired justice of the United States Supreme Court, Justice Stephen Breyer.

Feliciano observed, “Given the state of the world, especially in Ukraine, this is a critical time for the rule of law to prevail over the rule of force.”

Mr. Feliciano was also reelected to the House of Delegates, the policymaking branch of the ABA, for a seventh three-year term at the Annual ABA meeting in Chicago in August. He was the top vote-getter for one of seven Delegate at-large positions in a national election. The House of Delegates, similar to the United States Congress, has more than 500 members and has representation from every facet of the legal community, including state and federal judges, throughout the United States and its territories.

Mr. Feliciano practiced law at the international law firm BakerHostetler and has served on the boards of more than 25 local civic organizations, including the Cleveland Clinic, the Cleveland Council on World Affairs, and the Greater Cleveland Partnership; he is a past president of the Cleveland Bar Association.

Mr. Feliciano is a past recipient of both the Cleveland Marshall Law School and Business College Hall of Fame of Cleveland State University. He is also a leader-in-residence at the Law school.

Original Biography:

Mr. Feliciano has been a Partner in the Litigation Group in the Cleveland office of Baker & Hostetler LLP since 1985. A member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, he has more than thirty years of experience in complex commercial and employment litigation. His trial experience includes business litigation, product liability, construction, shareholders’ derivative suits, contracts, eminent domain, and commercial and personal torts.

A White House Fellow under President Reagan and former chief prosecuting attorney for the city of Cleveland. He has served for over a decade on the Board of Trustees of John Carroll University, his undergraduate alma mater. 

Mr. Feliciano earned his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1975 and an Executive MBA from Cleveland State University. In 1990, he was in CSU’s first class of Distinguished Alumni Award recipients.
