DBA Program Alumni and Faculty Spring 2023

DBA Program Provides Lasting, Powerful Research and Publishing Connections

Doctoral programs create long-lasting, working relationships with faculty long after the "student" becomes a professor and long after professors retire or become "emeriti". Our Doctor of Business Administration program here at Cleveland State University is no exception. Recently, we heard of multiple DBA alumni publishing together, or with their former faculty mentors. Here are just a few examples.

Dominic BuccieriDr. Dominic Buccieri, a two-time alum of CSU (BBA and DBA) recently published articles with two of his faculty mentors from the Monte Ahuja College of Business, Dr. Raj Javalgi former Associate Dean of Strategic Initiatives and Dr. Andrew Gross, retired Professor of Marketing. The most recent paper, published in the journal, Industrial Marketing Management in 2022 was "Examining the formation of entrepreneurial resources in emerging market international new ventures". Dr. Buccieri is currently an Assistant Professor at Missouri Southern State University.

Vivien JancenelleDr. Buccieri also published a paper with Dr. Vivien Jancenelle, also a DBA alum in the International Journal of Organizational Analysis in 2022 entitled "Signaling downsizing intentions after a major crisis: does managerial authenticity matter?" Dr. Jancenelle is an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston at Clear Lake.

Drs. Buccieri, Javlagi and Jancenelle also collaborated to publish in the International Small Business Journal in 2021. The two alumni also collaborated with Dr. Susan Storrud Barnes to publish in Management Decision the same year.

Aslihan Gizem KorkmazDBA Alumna Aslihan Gizem Korkmaz continues to publish with Dr. Haigang Zhou. In 2021, they were co-authors of two papers, "The rise of digital finance: Financial inclusion or debt trap?" in Finance Research Letters and Household-owned Businesses’ Vulnerability to the COVID-19 Pandemic in Emerging Markets Finance and Trade. Dr. Korkmaz is currently an Associate Professor at Dominican University of California.

In fact, when we went searching for our DBA alumni and their recent publications, we were pleasantly surprised at the quantity and quality of scholarship. These are just a few of the examples that we were able to identify.
