Business Students Lead At November Entrepreneurship Events Fall 2021

Startup Vikes Winning Team - Lead by John DellickCongratulations to all of the business students that participated in Startup Vikes (November 5th through 7th) and the Every Film Is A Startup program (the premiere and culmination of the program was held on Friday, November 19th).

A very special shout-out to Senior Management Major John Dellick (pictured at right) whose team was the first place winner at Startup Vikes and the "People's Choice Award winner. John also participated on two teams for the Every Film Is A Startup program.

Every Film Is a Startup teams students from across the university with Film and Business students to create a three to five minute “proof of concept” video about a documentary that the students wish to create and use the business model canvas to learn about entrepreneurship.

Annual Weekend Event Provides Pathways for CSU Student Entrepreneurs

The ninth annual Startup Vikes event, held Friday, November 5th through Sunday, November 7th in the Business Building on the Cleveland State University campus successfully awarded the top three (3) companies created during the weekend prizes and cash infusion packages.

The winning businesses that received a cash infusion and prize package were:

“We are very proud of all of the businesses developed during Startup Vikes,” said Colette Hart, senior director for the Centers of Outreach and Engagement. “The weekend provides a pathway for entrepreneurship – one that we hope that all of our teams will pursue after the event and demonstrates Cleveland State University’s commitment to providing engaged learning that impacts Northeast Ohio.”

“For the winners and the teams formed, now the real work begins,” added Hart. “Most of the businesses and individuals who participated will now begin refining their business models through the Weston Ideation Lab Accelerator program or at our Small Business Development Center.”

16 business ideas were pitched and 8 teams formed on Friday night. 20+ mentors and presenters provided help, guidance and resources throughout the weekend ranging from strategy, branding, marketing, sales, financial, legal, design services and manufacturing to name a few.
