Brice Bechtel

Brice BechtelSpring 2021:

Brice Bechtel is the Rotary Club of Cleveland's Excellence in Business Graduate Studies. Brice grew up in Medina, Ohio and attended Cloverleaf High School. During that time, he attended the University of Akron for post-secondary enrollment to get a head start on his college education.

Brice enrolled as an Accounting major at CSU and graduated with his BBA in December of 2019. While earning his BBA, he had a variety of accounting-focused internships at Meaden & Moore, Sherwin-Williams and Ernst & Young. An MBA student who is also pursuing a graduate certificate in Governance, Risk Management and Compliance, Brice worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Dean's Office of the College of Business.

He will begin his career at Ernst & Young in the consulting practice in Fall 2021. He enjoys helping people in any way he can and is excited that this career path is a fit for that passion.

Outside of school and work, Brice loves to be outside and active. He enjoys hiking, biking, swimming and walking his dog every chance he can. Friends and family are a large part of his life. Brice also enjoys travel and hopes his future career will take him around the world and to every state in the U.S. A proud Viking, he hopes to someday be in a position to give back to the school he has called home for many years.

An active member of Beta Alpha Psi, most recently serving as co-president, he and his team earned Superior Chapter status in Fall 2020 for the 2019-2020 academic year. This status demonstrates that the CSU chapter far exceeded the baseline requirements from the national organization and have excelled in the areas of academics, professionalism and leadership. In addition, in Spring 2021 Beta Alpha Psi earned two first place finishes for the 2021 Midwest Region in the annual Best Practices Competition, sponsored by Deloitte. View the announcement here.

Fall 2020:

In Fall of 2020, Brice was one of a group of Accounting students asked to assist faculty with research on offering the Microsoft Office Specialist Excel certification to CSU business students. The program was successful and there are plans to expand it for Fall 2021. Learn more about the program and the research project here.

Spring-Summer 2020:

In May of 2020, Brice Bechtel wrote about his experiences as the world was changing due to COVID-19. In September, after completing a virtual internship and accepting an offer, he updated us on what his experience was like during the Summer of 2020. Learn more here.

Summer 2019:

Brice Bechtel has worked at Sherwin-Williams since October of 2018. His role in the Corporate Accounting Department has proven invaluable to his knowledge of private accounting. The International Team, which he is a part of, has many responsibilities and Brice gets involved in most of them.

Brice's main and most challenging duty is performing comparisons between the internal books of Sherwin-Williams and their acquisition of Valspar. In this monthly process he identifies where issues lie between the two sets of books, investigate differences, records the issues and then corrects entries that are not being represented on the corporate end.

Being a part of the Corporate Accounting Team is entertaining at times because you are at the very top of the Accounting food chain for such a large company. This opportunity at Sherwin-Williams has proved Brice with numerous skills and especially with a thorough and advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel which is something that will make a lasting impression on him and his accounting career.

Brice is an Accounting Major.
