Allan D. Waren, Ph.D.

Alumni_Hall_of_Fame_photo_Waren.jpgAllan Waren is Professor Emeritus of Computer and Information Science. He was Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at CSU from 1966 to 1968, then President and Founding Director of Com-Share Limited from 1968 to 1971. He started the Department of Computer & Information Science in 1971 and was a Professor therein until he retired in 1993.  He has remained active in the University, having served as Interim Dean for the College on three occasions and as Senior Research Associate for the College of Urban Affairs.

He has been very active in research, with over 100 publications, and has consulted clients such as World Bank, Exxon, Texaco, and PPG. CSU awarded him the Distinguished Faculty Research Award in 1979 and the College bestowed the first Annual Faculty Research Award in 1993. In 1985 he was the runner-up for the Outstanding Case Writer's Award from the Case Research Association. In 1988 he was the runner-up for the Management Science Achievement Award from the Operations Research and Management Science Association and in 2010 they awarded him and his team the Biannual Impact Prize for the development and implementation of the Solver available in every Excel spreadsheet.
