Dr. Kenneth B. Kahn, Dean Monte Ahuja College of BusinessThe U.S. inflation rate is the highest it has been since 1982, with data indicating an inflation rate of 7.9% for the 12 month period ending the end of February 2022. This will undoubtedly affect businesses by driving up costs and increasing prices, which in turn, only makes it harder for businesses to reach their goals related to margin and profitability.

About The Speakers:

George MateyoGeorge Mateyo

As Chief Investment Officer, George Mateyo is responsible for establishing sound investment strategies for private and institutional clients, expanding internal and external research capabilities and managing the delivery of solid risk-adjusted investment performance. He also chairs Key Private Bank’s Investment Strategy and Oversight Committee. In previous roles, George spent more than 15 years in investment management and investment consulting, where he acquired firsthand knowledge and insights into the capital markets and the stewardship of investment portfolios for institutional and high net-worth investors.

George received his BA from Wittenberg University and his MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. He also completed additional studies at the London School of Economics. Active in his community, he is a member of the CFA® Institute and the CFA Society of Cleveland, and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Saint Luke’s Foundation of Cleveland, where he chairs the Investment Committee. He also serves as a special advisor to the Endowment Subcommittee of Wittenberg University. 


Rob RichRob Rich

Robert Rich is the director of the Center for Inflation Research and a senior economic and policy advisor in the Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. Before joining the Bank in 2018, he was an assistant vice president in the Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he served as a founding editor and contributor to Liberty Street Economics, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s blog, and as the editor of U.S. Economy in a Snapshot, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s monthly update of economic and financial developments. Prior to joining the New Fed, he was an assistant professor of economics at Vanderbilt University.

Mr. Rich has degrees in economics from Fordham University (B.A. ’80), Northwestern University (M.A. ’82), and Brown University (Ph.D. ’87). He has published articles in the Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, The Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics and Journal of Applied Econometrics.
