Outdoor Weber 2019 Idea Competition

Outdoor Weber is an outdoor recreation product and service idea competition for college students world-wide. Supported by Weber State University's Global Entrepreneurship Center and Camping World Holdings, the competition is designed to support new outdoor recreation ideas, taking unrefined concepts and turning them into business opportunities. The first place winner will receive $45,000.

Students should submit their 90-second video pitch to OutdoorWeber.org between January 14-30, 2019. For help with your pitch, please visit the Weston Ideation Lab (located in BU 308). 

Timeline of events:

January 14 through 30, 2019 Students submit their 90-second video pitches online at OutdoorWeber.org
February 1 through 15, 2019 Students promote their videos to get the most online votes. The top 25 participants with the most online votes will move on to the semi-finals. 
February 25, 2019 A group of regional judges will select 10 finalists.
March 20 through 23, 2019 The ten finalists will attend the competition in Ogden, Utah.

The three-day competition gives participants the opportunity to refine their concepts with assistance from some of the world’s most-recognized outdoor recreation-based individuals and companies, AND recreate in one of the world's most amazing outdoor playgrounds. The winning idea will be selected by a panel of judges based on progress made throughout the duration of the competition, and its creator will take home a $45,000 grand prize. Second and third prizes will take home $20,000 and $10,000 respectively.

Students must be able to travel and ready to begin the evening of Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 5:30 PM MST. The competitive events with mentoring teams will start promptly at 8:00 AM MST on Thursday, March 21, 2019. Students are responsible for their own travel costs, however, all meals, networking event by RecConnect, an outdoor film festival held at the Egyptian Theater, interactive art show and snow sports day and send-off meal at Powder Mountain are included.
