Dean Robertson

Mr. Robertson brings over 30 years of executive leadership experience in both management consulting and healthcare to his role as an educator. With a background in key leadership positions at major academic medical centers, he has gained extensive expertise in operations, strategic planning, and organizational transformation. This professional experience has enabled him to teach healthcare administration at Cleveland State University, offering students valuable insights from the field and preparing them for real-world challenges in healthcare management.

Mr. Robertson’s work spans various high-level roles, including his time at University Hospitals in Cleveland, a national leader in healthcare with 15 hospitals and over 200 ambulatory locations. As the Administrator of the Seidman Cancer Center, he led the administrative, financial, and operational performance for Hematology, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology Physician Services.

His previous role as Vice President of Hospital Operations at The MetroHealth System further underscores his expertise. MetroHealth, a $980M-per-year academic health system, is home to three hospitals and 21 ambulatory sites. Mr. Robertson oversaw a $650M business unit portfolio and was responsible for 270 physicians across 30 specialties and five system-wide service lines. He also held leadership roles in Integrated Operations and Transformation at MetroHealth, where he led strategic planning and transformation initiatives across the health system.

Before transitioning into healthcare, Mr. Robertson spent over a decade at Booz Allen Hamilton, a global management consulting firm. He managed a $15M annual consulting practice in the aerospace and defense markets, leading a 100+ person team.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Robertson has built strong relationships with healthcare leaders, bringing a current and valuable network to Cleveland State University. He has used this network to develop internship partnerships for students in management and healthcare administration programs, providing them with hands-on experience in the field.
