From Analytics to Impact: Charan Gangavarapu’s Journey Through Weston Ideation Lab

With a strong foundation in Management Information Systems and computer science, Charan Gangavarapu has built a career at the intersection of analytics and business strategy. Currently serving as a Program & Data Analyst at Bounce Innovation Hub, his work centers on using data to drive smarter decisions and meaningful outcomes—skills he now brings back to campus as a mentor.

Charan’s decision to get involved with the Weston Ideation Lab was both practical and personal. “I wanted to give back in a way that adds value for students,” he shared. “But just as importantly, I knew it would be fun.” That combination—impact and enjoyment—continues to shape his experience as a mentor, where conversations, ideas, and collaboration are at the forefront.

While mentoring others, Charan often reflects on the guidance that helped shape his own journey. A standout influence has been Lynn Buchinsky, whose openness and willingness to make time left a lasting impression. “She consistently creates opportunities and supports those around her—that’s something I deeply respect,” he noted.

His entrepreneurial path at CSU has been defined not by a single moment, but by a network of people who showed up at the right time. Conversations with Lynn sparked ideas and opened doors, while Professor Debbie Hoffman provided critical mentorship and perspective. These relationships led to opportunities like attending the OhioVC event in 2024, where new connections—including Dr. Jeff Spitzner and Ms. Hannah Gleason—continued to expand his professional circle and growth.

That momentum carried into hands-on experience as well. Through connections made along the way, Charan joined Disk-O-Tape as an Analyst, gaining practical insight and developing skills in a real-world setting. Faculty mentors including Mr. Kalyan Chekuri, Dr. Apo Oguz, Dr. Kyle Nash, Dr. Emmanuel Ayaburi, and Dr. Timothy Arndt also played pivotal roles, offering early opportunities to build expertise in data, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and research.

Today, at Bounce Innovation Hub, Charan continues to thrive in a collaborative environment that values ideas and initiative. But despite the technical focus of his work, he emphasizes that success has always come down to people.

At the heart of his story is a simple but powerful belief: no one succeeds alone. From family support to mentors, peers, and colleagues, every step has been shaped by others willing to invest their time and trust.

And now, through the Weston Ideation Lab, Charan is doing the same for the next generation—offering guidance, sharing experiences, and helping students turn ideas into something bigger.
