Did You Know We Offer Microgrants To Entrepreneurs? 

The Weston Ideation Lab is proud to offer microgrant funding to support entrepreneurs as they test, launch, and grow their business ideas. These grants are made possible by the Burton D. Morgan Foundation and are designed to help founders take meaningful next steps in their ventures.

Who Can Apply:
  • Cleveland State University students
  • CSU faculty and staff
  • CSU alumni
  • CSU SBDC clients (must be actively registered with the CSU SBDC prior to March 1, 2026)

Whether you’re still developing your idea or already operating, there are opportunities to receive support.

Launch GrantsScale Up Grants
  • Provide grants ranging from $250-$1,000.
  • Designed for new ventures or early-stage ideas.
  • Provides grants ranging from $1,001-$3,000.
  • For ventures that are already launched and actively operating
  • To qualify for a Scale Up Grant, you must be able to demonstrate at least six months of revenue generation. 

Additional requirements include:

  • The business idea or product that the venture is focused around MUST be inspired and/or made/produced by the founder (applicant).
  • Business ideas and products CANNOT be part of another business (multi-level or pyramid model, franchise, etc.) 
     

Upon award, recipients will be asked to commit to providing the following:

  • Grant recipients are expected to actively engage with the Lab and the entrepreneurship community. Upon receiving an award, recipients will:
  • Provide a company logo and headshot or team photo
  • Attend two meetings with a member of the Weston Ideation Lab team
  • Post two LinkedIn updates on your business progress (including tags: @weston ideation lab, @Monte Ahuja College of Business, @Burton D. Morgan Foundation, and #morganstartupgrant2026)
  • Participate in an in-person pitch session with other microgrant awardees
  • Submit progress updates at 30, 60, 90, and 120 days post-award
  • Complete the Burton D. Morgan Startup grant survey (October-November 2026)

Recipients are expected to meet ALL program requirements. Failure to comply may result in the loss of grant funding and the requirement to return awarded funds.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and funding is limited — not all applicants will be funded. Applicants may be contacted for additional information about their request.
