Intercollegiate Ethics Case Competition (IECC) 2026

Sponsored by Institute for Internal Auditors, Northeast Ohio Chaper

Institute of Internal Auditors

Friday, February 27, 2026

The IECC features several teams from Ohio Universities, including CSU, each team composed of three members who will present their solutions to a unique and thought-provoking ethics case study. A panel of judges from public accounting firms and industry will evaluate their solutions.

Research indicates that 80% of young professionals encounter significant ethical dilemmas early in their careers, which play a critical role in shaping their moral compasses. Developing the ability to recognize ethical actions and demonstrate ethical courage in any situation is essential to preparing future professionals to uphold and protect the public interest.

The event will include a session open to non-participants at approximately 12:45 p.m. in BU 118.

Participating in the IECC offers several benefits for students including:
  • Real-World Experience: Develop practical skills by tackling complex, real-world ethical challenges faced in professional settings.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Enhance analytical and decision-making abilities by crafting innovative and effective solutions.
  • Professional Development: Gain exposure to industry expectations and ethical standards, helping to prepare for future career challenges.
  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with judges, including professionals from public accounting firms and various industries, as well as peers from other universities.
  • Team Collaboration: Strengthen teamwork and communication skills by working closely with others to achieve a common goal.
