The 2016 Real Estate Conference connects Cleveland State University with the Northeast Ohio real estate industry through an educational event featuring industry-renowned experts. The Conference is open to real estate professionals, the Northeast Ohio community, Cleveland State University students, faculty and alumni.

Keynote speakers

Dr. Michael J. Seiler

Dr. Michael J. Seiler is currently the K. Dane Brooksher Endowed Chair/Professor of Real Estate and Finance at The College of William & Mary. Dr. Seiler was the former Chief Economist at the hedge fund Palex Capital. Internationally-recognized as a behavioral real estate researcher whose studies have been cited in the Wall Street JournalNew York TimesLA Times and the Washington Post, he has published over 150 research studies, written several books and currently serves as the editor of Real Estate Finance and co-editor of the Journal of Real Estate Literature

Spencer Levy

Spencer Levy is the Americas' Head of Research for CBRE and a senior member of the company's global research team. An eight-year veteran of CBRE, Mr. Levy previously served as Executive Managing Director in the company's Capital Markets division. In his role, Mr. Levy oversees the analytical activities of the CBRE research community within the Americas region and is responsible for the management of hundreds of professionals who are focused on producing market-leading insight and interpretative analysis on the latest real estate trends. Mr. Levy supports CBRE executives in their decision-making by providing insight into the impact of market trends related to strategic business planning, and analyst call preparation.

Joe Marinucci

Joe Marinucci has led the Downtown Cleveland Alliance (DCA) since 2006. Under his leadership, the DCA has evolved from a special improvement district (SID) focused on the Clean & Safe Program, to an organization engaged in various aspects of Downtown Cleveland from business attraction and retention and retail development, to marketing and special events. Setting specific priorities for the organization, has helped DCA experience incremental progress that has led it to where it is today. The DCA has helped attract 130 businesses to Downtown, and created and retained thousands of jobs through its Business Development Center, rebranded the Financial District to the NineTwelve District, renovated Perk Plaza, created the weekly food truck meet-up Walnut Wednesday, extended RTA's popular, free green trolleys, worked to redefine North Coast Harbor and helped to attract retain back to downtown Cleveland bring business to the 5th Street Arcades.

Dr. Byron P. White

Dr. Byron P. White has spent his career as a journalist and administrator in academic, corporate, non-profit and public sectors facilitating mutually beneficial engagement between institutions and urban communities. He currently is Vice President for University Engagement and Chief Diversity Officer at Cleveland State University, where he is responsible for developing and overseeing strategies that advance civic engagement, workplace engagement, and inclusion and multicultural engagement.
