IS Applied Learning Experience Student Placements 2026

Stephen Polansky

Stephen was an IT intern at BGI for about four months. He imaged new laptops and found an outdated install in the imaging script. He ran and labeled network cables for a new engineering lab. He pushed security patches through Qualys and resolved about 100 issues. He also learned PowerShell from the systems administrator.

Ashley Wade

Ashley interned on the Help Desk in the Cuyahoga County Department of Information Technology. She managed accounts in Active Directory and tracked tickets in Cherwell. Her key moment was a call from a person who tried to impersonate a county employee. She followed procedure and reported it to security.

Gabriele Borges De Oliveira

Gabriele interned at Reliable Supply Chains, a procurement and logistics company. The work included user laptop support, IT inventory, and laptop imaging with BitLocker. Gabriele discussed the design of REACH, the company order system, with the owner. This showed how storage cost and cash flow affect IT decisions

Grant Bernstein

Grant interned on the cybersecurity team at Third Federal. He learned DNS and email security, and he investigated suspicious email in Mimecast. He also used CrowdStrike, Splunk, Qualys, and PowerShell. His first project was a SaaS application audit, with a CrowdStrike dashboard that shows use by department.
