Women in Business: Today & Tomorrow March 20, 2014 Leadership Event

The inaugural Women in Business: Today & Tomorrow lecture series was held on March 20, 2014 and included a roundtable dialogue with Cleveland-area businesswomen in leadership positions at area companies that encompassed a variety of industries. Panelists discussed:

  • Their current and previous career paths
  • Issues that women face within business
  • Why more women are needed in business - especially in certain industries
  • Skills women need to develop prior to graduation from college
  • Leadership and managerial roles
  • Networking advice

Panelists included:

LisaBoucher

Lisa Boucher, Chief Development Officer at Northwestern Mutual, Northern Ohio

Lisa Boucher is a financial professional and part of the management team at Northwestern Mutual. A business professional with ten years of experience, she is a registered Broker-Dealer agent and is able to buy and sell securities.

 
Jessica Castellano, Executive Director of Recruitment at Northwestern Mutual JessicaCastellano

Jessica Castellano is a human resources professional who recruits and selects professional talent for the Northwestern Mutual Northern Ohio office. A graduate of Cleveland State University, Jessica enjoys working for the finanical services company that specializes in insurance and investment solutions - but in a human resources role.

 

MichelleFrietchenMichelle Frietchen, Senior Manager, Market Research & Analytics for the Cleveland Clinic

Michelle Frietchen has spent over 20 years in market research and analytics and has managed the Market Research Department at the Cleveland Clinic since 2001. In addition to her responsibilities at the Clinic, she is also a co-chair of Women in Search of Excellence (WISE), and Employee Resource Group. Michelle is a Cleveland State University alum - having earned her bachelor's degree with a marketing major at the College of Business.

Linda Kane, Senior Vice President, Treasurer at Forest City Enterprises, Inc. 

Linda Kane has over 30 years of experience in the real estate industry. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), she is a Cleveland State University alumna having earned her bachelor's degree with an accounting major at the College of Business. Linda is also an active member of the Visiting Committee for the Monte Ahuja College of Business and Alumni Association at Cleveland State University.

 

DariaRoebuckDaria Roebuck, Vice President, Human Resources at ERICO International Corporation

Daria Roebuck leads the human resources function for ERICO - a leading designer of precision-engineered metal products. ERICO International serves electrical, construction, utility and railroad industries worldwide offering niche products. Daria is a Cleveland State University alumna having earned her bachelor's degree with a business education major from Cleveland State University. She also serves on the Visiting Committee for the Monte Ahuja College of Business and as a mentor for the college's GlobalTarget program.

 

Special Guests Included:

Kim Ruggeri: College Lecturer in Marketing Department, over 10 years of experience in advertising agencies, managed acounts such as Sherwin-Williams, White Castle, MetroHealth and the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland State University alumna - having earned her MBA from the Monte Ahuja College of Business and AMA student organization advisor.

Sharen Bakke: Assistant Professor, Department of Computer & Information Science, expertise in systems analysis and design as well as knowledge management within enterprises.

Christine Dickinson: College Lecturer in Marketing Department, 20 plus years of experience in global marketing management and international consulting.

Vickie Gallagher: Associate Professor in Management Department, focused on organizational behavior and human resources, SHRM student organization advisor and researcher in topics related to organizational behavior/management.

Rama Jayanti: Professor in the Marketing Department with an emphasis on pharmaceutical/healthcare marketing, sustainability and customer satisfaction.

Tracy Porter: College Associate Lecturer in the Management Department with a focus on human resources and general management topics. SHRM student organization advisor.
