Supply Chain Management Using Excel - Course for Spring 2018

The Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management is offering a one-week, three credit Excel Course called Supply Chain Management Using Excel in January of 2018. Microsoft Excel is one of the most commonly used tools for data analysis and business decision-making. Excel skills are often tested during the hiring process for operations and supply chain positions within organizations.

Course Description:

The Course is divided into two parts. Part One will discuss useful formulas, how to use a variety of charts, business report generation and other data analysis techniques. Part Two will discuss supply chain management decision-making using Excel. Students will build and solve a variety of business cases using Excel tools.

Studnts should have basic Excel knowledge prior to enrolling in the course. No textbook is required and all course materials will be provided.


Dr. Jen-Yi (Jay) Chen, Associate Professor in the Operations & Supply Chain Management Department will be teaching this course. Dr. Chen has extensive knowledge in spreadsheet modeling, analytics and data-driven decision-making.

Times: 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Location: BU 17A (Computer Lab, located on the Lower Level)
Credit Hours: 3.0 - you must attend all five days of the course.
