2016 Impact

Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship

Small Business Development Center:

• Logged more than 1,030 hours with 308 customers, 70 of which are long-term, returning clients.
• Started 20 new businesses.
• Worked with clients to create 73 new jobs.

Startup Vikes:

• Since the inaugural event, 13 companies have been launched.
• In 2016, 4 new companies were formed, and the event sold out.
• Planning for the February 2017 event is now underway.  

TEDxClevelandStateUniversity:

• In 2016, the Centers were able to engage additional University resources and marshal efforts to hold the first TEDxClevelandStateUniversity Salon on July 20th, 2016 during the Republican National Convention.
• The October 21st, 2016 event, Reality Shifts featured 13 speakers including Connie Schultz.  

Global Business Center

Export Assistance Network:

• The International Trade Assistance Network became the Export Assistance Network.  
• Served over 100 companies
• Logged more than 1,000 hours of consulting
• Trained over 500 employees
• Global Reach program continues to add value to Northeast Ohio businesses looking to export.

GlobalTarget:

• Served 15 companies in a cohort-style program that runs October through June.
• Current cohort consists of 8 diverse organizations increasing their global footprint.

Professional Development Center

Continuing Education:

• Provided continuing education courses in a number of different disciplines to over 405 students.
• Executed 14 custom, corporate training contracts for organizations in Northeast Ohio

Thought Leadership Initiatives:

• Collaborated with the College of Business Information Systems Department to deliver the second annual SAS Days at CSU.
• Collaborated with the Office of Inclusion & Multicultural Engagement to deliver "Meeting the Challenge of Inclusive Excellence".
• Partnered with the Office of Civic Engagement to deliver "Building Mutual Respect and Community Trust".
• Delivered Leadership 2.0 in conjunction with the University Department of Human Resources.

Sustainable Business Center

Corporate Roundtable:

• Corporate Roundtable (#CRTcle) held 8 events.
• Over 305 individuals attended CRTcle events, averaging 38 attendees per event.

Center Initiatives:

• Re-named the Center and re-crafted the Center's programs and offerings.
• 28 individual and organization members of the Center. Learn more about membership.
• 64 Companies engaged with the Sustainable Business Center.
• Hosted two (2) networking events for the Cleveland Sustainability community.
• Partnered with the American Sustainable Business Council to host and deliver a policy forum, "Conservative Thought and Sustainability" held during the Republican National Convention.
• Worked with Bendix and 11 MBA students on a sustainability challenge project.
• Added Professional Development Center courses in Six Sigma Green Belt and Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
• Worked to develop additional continuing education sustainability courses.
